Our Mission
The energy transition is the most complex physical undertaking in human history. It requires rebuilding the engines of the global economy while they are running. The Institute for Energy was founded to cut through the rhetoric and focus on the math, the physics, and the market mechanisms that dictate how power is actually generated and dispatched.
We do not advocate for specific technologies. We advocate for decarbonization at the lowest possible cost to society, while maintaining grid reliability.
Funding and Independence
To maintain strict analytical independence, we do not accept funding from corporate entities involved in energy production, transmission, or storage. Our operations are funded entirely by philanthropic grants and academic endowments.
